SAVE THE DATE! FRANKLIN COUNTY BICENTENNIAL DAY JUNE 14 - Franklin County celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founding on March 11, 2008 and will host a county-wide celebration Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. The day will begin with a parade at 11am along Main St.,Malone, beginning at Pearl St. and ending at the Fairgrounds. The day's many activities include: historical displays, Civil War re-enactors, children's activities and games, tug-of-war competition, musical entertainment, and a puppet show. The Bicentennial Ceremony will follow the parade, and a Flag Day Ceremony will take place in late afternoon. Bicentennial Day will end with a concert by the Beatles tribute band "1964 The Tribute" and fireworks. Admission is free (small fee to park on the fairgrounds) and all activities are free. Towns are encouraged to create an historical display showcasing their unique history and a parade float with a bicentennial or historical theme.
