This unique former schoolhouse is located on Roakdale Road in Onchiota, New York and is now a private residence. It was built before 1923 and moved to its present site in the 1930's.The building material is clapboard with a stone foundation. The building has a hip metal roof and the windows have been replaced with four pane, double hung windows, as the former windows were long and narrow. Doors are metal insulated at present. The building is one story with two porches. The original vestibule was removed when the full-enclosed porch was built after 1975. The vestibule is now attached to the wood shed. The porch was constructed to match the style of the building.
Room partitions were put in, as it was a one room building, at one time housing up to 72 students. Interior was all wainscoting, now covered with paneling and some wallpaper. Floors are original western red spruce, with vinyl in kitchen. An original water fountain is in the hallway, as well as some glass doored bookcases.
The site is a one-acre lawn with trees, mostly pine, situated on main road, surrounded by private property.
The outbuildings are a wood shed, garage added to shed in 1980's. Two small cabins moved to property in 1983. The property is in excellent condition and in keeping with the original theme.
