A public hearing regarding the 2007 Tentative Budget was held on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 7pm at the Franklin Town Hall in Vermontville, NY.

CALL TO ORDER
Supervisor Keith called the public hearing to order at 7pm and the Pledge of Allegiance was said. The Deputy Town Clerk called the roll and explained the hearing process.
Those speaking in favor of the budget:

Those speaking against the increase in the amount to be raised by taxes due to the increase to the salary of the Highway Superintendent and/or an increase in the Highway Department Salary lines in the (change per January 8, 2007 Board meeting) 2007 Tentative Budget were:
Ed Baltzly, Jean Baltzly, Frank Karl, Jim Hauber, Helena Hough (as above), Richard Hough (as above), Rob Drosdowich, David Whitson, Bruce McCulley, Al Berg
QUESTIONS
Frank Karl asked how many laborers and MEO work at the Highway Department. Superintendent Rascoe stated the 2007 budget was intended to cover 8 MEO's and 1 laborer.
Jean Baltzly asked why the 2006 budget was created for 6 highway employees and increased to 8 after January 1, 2006 and where did those additional funds come from. Richard Meagher explained that the additional funds were part of an unexpended balance from the 2005 budget.

There being no further questions Supervisor Keith adjourned the public hearing at 8:10pm.
